ABOUT TEA

Where Law meets Economics

Hello and welcome to The Economist Attorney, or as I like to call it - TEA Blog! My name is Dylan Landon, and I am the sole writer and editor of The Economist Attorney. I am a recent Bachelor of Arts in Economics graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have always been interested in Law and Economics, and as such, I enjoy reviewing proposed economic policies and their effects on businesses and citizens.

The Economist Attorney is a unique blog in that it explores the economic impacts of laws and the legal validity of economic strategies. TEA will explore various topics in Law and Economics, such as:

  • Law: Antitrust Law, Trade Law, Intellectual Property Law, Patent Law

  • Economics: International Trade, Industrial Organization, Macroeconomics, Public and Social Economics

The purpose of TEA is to inform and persuade. I started this blog to explore and critique DC’s legal and economic decisions. You can expect to read a flow of logical economic and legal thinking as I analyze and explain what is happening in Washington and what it means.

Why Law and Economics?

The economic influence on laws and the legal impact on the economy are two things that are incredibly important but often overlooked by policymakers. From antitrust lawsuits shaping competitive markets to the tariffs and trade barriers increasing prices for consumers, the effects of decisions made in Washington are global - they impact everyone. By understanding this relationship, we can better understand how to (or if we should) regulate markets, protect consumers, and ensure fair competition.
